My name is Mikeias, I am 39 years old, and for the past 8 years I have worked as a native guide deep in the Amazon jungle.

But my connection with the rainforest began long before I became a guide. I grew up in the heart of the Amazon, surrounded by the rivers, trees, wildlife, and native communities that have been my home and my greatest teachers.

My family has lived along the rivers of the Amazon for generations. From them, I inherited knowledge that cannot simply be learned from a book — knowledge passed down from one generation to the next. I learned about the medicinal plants of the jungle, the trees, the animals, the rivers, and the many secrets of the rainforest.

The Amazon has taught me how to live with nature rather than against it.

I know how to hunt, how to fish, how to navigate the jungle, and how to survive when there is nothing around me but wilderness. I know how to read the forest, recognize useful plants, understand the signs of animals, and find my way through one of the most challenging and beautiful environments on Earth.
